A strong narrative arc lit by music.  It’s tight, enthralling, different, and the audience loves it.

- Deirdre Cronin, Irish Music Magazine

The Leitrim Equation production looks to a long tradition of Leitrim music to trace a wider history full of colour, of love and loss, and of leaving and coming back. From the hills of Sí Beag and Sí Mór and the pits of the Arigna mines to the music of Irish communities of London and New York; the show describes how landscape shapes us, and the extent to which place, time and events influence who we are.

The film is the culmination of a residency in Leitrim over two years by Eleanor Shanley, Dave Sheridan, Padraig McGovern and John McCartin who researched and sourced Leitrim music and song, and together with Dónal Lunny they have presented beautiful arrangements of these tunes, some of which have not been played for over 100 years in a cast completed with poet, playwright and broadcaster Vincent Woods and the captivating footwork of Seán Nós dancer Edwina Guckian.

In light of the current circumstances that we are all having to endure right now, where the pure joy that comes for experiencing live events has had to be put on hold for a while, Leitrim County Council has made the Leitrim Equation DVD available to view until such time as we are able to safely return to theatres and concert venues once more. - Enjoy and please share!

I loved the show. The music was superb, the dancing was superb, the film/visuals were beautiful, but the surprise was how brilliantly the poetry glued everything together. So simple but right on the nail.

Thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful performance at RADA. Still thinking about it and smiling. Come back soon!

You didn't have to have come from Leitrim or even Ireland to be enchanted by the Leitrim Equation concert at RADA on Sunday night. There were no flashing lights, gobos, dry ice or other synthetic production effects we experience at other shows. They were just not needed here, as this was musicality in its purist form, creating an emotional evocation of County Leitrim.
